“Off Center”, a painting series by Hunter Celeste Hill, was first inspired by Piet Mondrian and his geometric paintings. Hill has always enjoyed Mondrian’s work and has always felt inspired by his work for its logical lines and blocks of primary colors. Primarily, Hill is a sculpture artist, which is why she is generally drawn toward logical settings in art. “Off Center” caters to both Hill’s logical and more chaotic side, with the main overtones in most of the paintings being extremely geometric, and underneath a sense of passion and abstractedness. Not only do the paintings combine both geometry and abstract expressionism, the works purposefully have an obtuse perspective when on display. The two main elements of the works, when combined, creates a sense of unbalance, a sense of being off center.  “Off Center” is Hill’s first painting series. Hunter Celeste Hill was born in 1995 in a small town in North Carolina, USA. She now works as an Art Educator, teaching high school students in Suzhou, China.
